Use
The ampoule has a predetermined breaking zone. Protect yourself by wearing gloves.Open the ampoule directly before useAtmospheric moisture can penetrate in anopen ampouleor very dry air can absorb water from theliquidand therefore falsify the results.For expiration data for the closed ampoule see label and Report of Analysis.
1. Snap off the top tag of the ampoule at the predetermined breaking zone.
2. Rinse a glass syringe with approx.0.5 mL standard
3. Draw the rest of the standard immediately into the syringe.
4. Carryout 2-3 control determinations.
For monitoring the system or after the anaylsis of a sample, add a known amount of Hydranal Water Standard and analyze it the same way as the sample. The amount of added water should be similar to the water amount in the sample.
The recovery rate should ideally be within the expanded measurement uncertainty stated on the Report of Analysis.Literature gives varying recommendations forrecoveryrateseg.the EuropeanPharmacopoeia:
For 1000μg water max.±25μg
For 100 ug water max.±10μg

The water content is analyzed under ISO/EC 17025 accreditation by coulometric titration on 11 samples and is directly traceable to SI unit. Each sample is measured twice using two different coulometric instruments.The volumetric KF titration was used as a second technigue on a selected number of samples to confirm the reliability of the performance Both methods are verified against the external standard NIST SRM 2890.
